Blessed Fulton J. Sheen and the Call to Courageous Vocations
The recent beatification of Archbishop Fulton J. Sheen is a joyful moment for the Church and a reminder that God continues to raise up faithful witnesses who inspire others to know, love, and follow Jesus Christ. On September 24, 2026, Fulton Sheen was declared “Blessed” before tens of thousands of faithful gathered in St. Louis, recognizing a life marked by evangelization, holiness, and a deep commitment to leading souls to Christ.
For us at Virtus et Veritas (V2) Ministries, Blessed Fulton Sheen’s life resonates deeply with our mission. Throughout his ministry, Sheen challenged young people to pursue greatness, not according to the standards of the world, but according to God’s plan for their lives. He believed that every person has a unique calling and that discovering that vocation is one of life’s greatest adventures.
At V2 Ministries, we share that same conviction.
Every summer camp, backpacking trip, canoe expedition, and adventure experience we offer is designed to give young men an opportunity to step away from distractions and encounter God in a deeper way. When young men leave behind technology, routines, and comforts to embrace challenge, prayer, brotherhood, and the beauty of creation, they become more open to hearing the voice of God.
Discernment is not simply about deciding what career to pursue. It is about discovering who God created us to be. Whether a young man is called to marriage, the priesthood, religious life, or dedicated service in the world, God has a plan for his life. Our hope is that every V2 experience creates space for young men to ask that important question: “Lord, what are You calling me to do?”
Blessed Fulton Sheen often spoke about the importance of silence, prayer, and a personal relationship with Christ. These same elements remain at the heart of all we do at V2 Ministries today. Around a campfire, in a small group conversation, during Eucharistic Adoration, or in quiet moments of prayer at Mass, young men are invited to listen for God’s call and grow in confidence as beloved sons of God.
As we celebrate the beatification of Blessed Fulton Sheen, we are grateful for his example and inspired by his witness. We pray that his intercession will strengthen our mission and help the young men we serve become courageous disciples who are open to God’s will for their lives. May Blessed Fulton Sheen inspire a new generation of young men to seek holiness, embrace their vocation, and boldly answer Christ’s call.
Blessed Fulton Sheen, pray for us.
